Loughton
The clients, a professional couple in their late forties, had inherited a well-planted yet overgrown wilderness, the elderly couple before them had clearly been keen horticulturalists but loss of mobility etc had meant that the gardeners were unable to tend the garden in a way they once had, all that remained was a framework of rare woody shrubs with very little worth salvaging. We made the decision to strip the garden back to the fence lines, retaining only the mature Magnolia tree.
Rob the client was a keen the Koi Carp from his previous garden so a walk-over linear pond became the basis of the design. They also wanted a raised entertaining area to the rear of the garden, surrounded by lush planting and an adjacent modern summerhouse that enabled them a secondary seating area and protection from inclement weather if needed.
